The ACN Match Review 24/25 – Hull City (h)

06/10/24

Not only is fun is back at Carrow Road, we are absolutely stuffing teams as well. Pure Hoffball. Ffion Thomas looks at the highs and lows (well, just the highs really).

How did we play?

It was beautiful, a joy to watch. Quick, incisive, brave, creative, relentless. Not everything came off, but not everything has to. A good day to miss a penalty as it should have been ten. We have come a long way since Oxford away and I’m looking forward to seeing where we’re going.

What was the best bit of the game?

The four goals were all a bit special – Núnẽz’s exocet, Sargent’s team-built tap-in, Gordon’s first League goal on his birthday, Sainz’s delightful chip – so let’s go for Fisher’s inch-perfect crunching tackle in the box towards the end (one of several such tackles from him in this game), which he celebrated heartily himself before taking a high-five from all of his defensive team-mates.

What was the worst bit of the game?

Angus not coming out after half time. It could be bad news for Scotland but the international break has probably come at a good time for us.

What was the atmosphere like?

More subdued than the equivalent 3pm kick-off would have been, but a fun time in the sunshine with the Olés more than appropriate. Hearing “EIEIEIO” break out for the first time in a while definitely means we’re on to a good thing. Abu Kamara got the pantomime villain treatment but did give the Barclay a clap on the way off and got a smattering of applause from some at least.

Hero of the match

Núnẽz ran the show, again, and stuck one in the top corner for good measure.

Summary in Five Words

Let Johannes and Glen cook.
