The ACN Match Review 24/25 – Sheffield Wednesday (a)

07/11/24

On a day where absolutely no other bad things happened, Norwich put in a meek performance against Sheffield Wednesday. Ffion Thomas had the unfortunate experience of actually being there.

How did we play?

A performance that was lacklustre, disjointed, toothless and fractious with the spine of the team missing and little invention or intensity on show. Add in a fixture schedule that has given us four away games out of five and our increasingly evident lack of depth means we’re in a bit of a spiral until some of that spine returns.

What was the best bit of the game?

Getting to enjoy a free fireworks display beyond the roofs of the stands at Hillsborough.

What was the worst bit of the game?

You’d struggle to see goalkeeping worse than that for the second goal over the road in Hillsborough Park on a Sunday morning and the reaction of Shane Duffy in particular shows there’s very little confidence from the defence in what’s behind them.

What was the atmosphere like?

Subdued on all sides. The biggest cheer of the night came late on when the scoreboard flashed up that Sheffield United had gone one-nil down ahead of the weekend’s Sheffield derby, which pre-match was all any Wednesday fan was talking about, making our no-show on the night even more frustrating.

Hero of the match

No one got injured or sent off, so well done to everyone for that.

Summary in Five Words
